Discipleship

     Discipleship Training

“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman, that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
(2 Timothy 2:15)

A healthy Church is one who has the mind and will to “grow.” Growth is a sign of “life” – and Jesus said he wants believers to have life and to have it more abundantly. The purpose is not necessarily to grow numbers, but to grow members. Paul said “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men who shall be able to teach others also.” (2 Timothy 2:2).

Bethel Baptist Church is dedicated to serving its congregation and community in an effort to grow in the knowledge of God’s Word. We do not boast beyond limit in the labors of others. But our hope is that as your faith increases, our area of influence among you may be greatly enlarged, so that we may preach and teach the gospel in lands beyond you, without boasting of work already done in another’s area of influence. It is our desire, as we speak the truth in love that we are to growup in every way into Him who is the head, into Christ.  Bethel Baptist strives to motivate all members to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. The believers at Bethel are always giving thanks to God for all those who attend and become a part of our assembly, which is the right attitude – because our faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing. Let us be a group of believers who, like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it we may grow up into salvation.

Jesus said to go and make disciples. Disciples are to have a servant’s heart, while growing more spiritually mature, seeking God’s holiness, self-sacrificing love, and improving their ability to administer discipline and encouragement to others who are in the sanctification process.

We encourage all members to enroll in educational opportunities they feel will enhance and supplement the spiritual gifts God has graciously provided. To that end, we have established Bethel University… an organized effort to offer courses, classes, training, and experiences that will assist the novice as well as the spiritually mature Christian. Bethel University will offer opportunities twice a year – Spring and Fall Semesters. Each semester will contain classes strictly for men, for women only, for couples, youth, and other life connections. A list of these classes for the next semester may be viewed by clicking on the appropriate icon. LET’S GROW TOGETHER!
