Staff

Bethel is blessed to have a staff that has truly been called by the Lord.  We are proud of each of them and the role they play in leading, training and mentoring our congregation.  Feel free to email them with any questions you may have.

Pastor Reggie Hester became the pastor of Bethel in October of 2005. He attended High school in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He and His wife Kay met in college at Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC. They were married in 1991and have three children Danielle (16), Davis (14), and Ross (9). Reggie earned both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Business Administration at Campbell University. He also has a Masters of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Reggie's passions are seeing people come to Christ and then shepherding them to grow through the scriptures. Reggie believes this is best accomplished through a firm commitment to expository preaching. Known to preach topically on occasion, most of his pulpit ministry involves preaching verse by verse through books of the bible. Reggie’s life verse is Philippians 1:21 “To live is Christ to die is gain.”
Pastor Bill Kidd serves as our Associate Pastor of Administration and Education. Bill and his wife, Laura, have been married since 1978 and they have one daughter, Sarah (25), who has a Psychology degree from Liberty University and a Masters in Counseling from Regent University. Bill has completed his Master of Arts in Religion (MAR) from Liberty University in July, 2010. Bill was recently ordained in March of 2010. Bill is the church administrator and pastor of the adult Sunday school department. He oversees all mission projects both locally and internationally. Other roles include the Upward Sports Program and the FAITH Sunday school evangelism strategy. Bill has a passion to present the gospel to every tribe and nation, starting right here on Elbow Road. Bill's favorite verse is Galatians 2:20, "I have been crucified with Christ..."
TJ Bodnar serves as the Student Pastor. He has been working in Youth Ministry for over 7 years. TJ and his wife, Christy, have been married since January 2007. TJ has his B.A. in Interdisciplinary studies, with a focus on Mass Communications and Music from North Greenville University. TJ has been gifted with a passion for youth and to see them grow deeper in their relationship with God. His roles include: Preparing the students for the future with a knowledge of God to make a mature decision about their faith and what they want it to become and flourish into, Uniting our youth together as christian brothers and sisters through Christ Jesus, Loving others as Christ loved you and learning to show love instead of just saying it, Serving God and the world so that God's glory can be shown in and through us, and Expanding the kingdom of God. Debi Tharrington has served as Director of Children’s Ministries since August 1, 2004. She married David in October of 1982 and has three children, Amanda, DJ and Kaleigh. She also has three grandchildren, Alexis, Gavin and Sophia. She has been a Christian for 25 years and a member of Bethel Baptist Church since 2000. "During my walk with the Lord, I have served Him as a Preschool Director, Pioneer Girl Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Children’s Church Teacher and Children’s Department Coordinator. I love the Lord and the children and have a strong desire to share the love of Christ with each one."
After teaching in public schools following college, Brenda Bodnar began building music departments in 3 private Christian schools in the area while raising a daughter, Katie and a son, Timothy with husband Jimmy. Brenda and Jimmy became members of Bethel in 1998. She retired from 20 years of teaching in 1999 when the Lord opened the door for her to move into the Music Ministry & Youth Ministry Administrative Assistant positions at Bethel. In 2010, the Worship Minister was called to another place of service and she began serving as Choral Director and Worship team Director of Bethel Baptist Church. Her love for the Lord and for the servants under her care are evident. Her favorite verse is Psalm 104:33 – “I will sing to the Lord as long as I live. I will sing praise to my Lord while I have my being.”
